Jean Paul Gaultier (SS.2008)

Product: Cream crochet cotton asymmetric dress with tassel-trimmed sleeves, deconstructed details, and detachable slip lining.

Designer: Jean Paul Gaultier

Collection: Spring-Summer 2008 (RTW)

Marked Size: IT 42 / FR 38 / UK 10

Fit: Small - Medium

Material:

Outer: 100% cotton open-knit crochet
Slip: Detachable lightweight cream silk-jersey with stretch and adjustable straps

Construction: Designed to emulate antique cotton lace tablecloths, the dress is patchworked from asymmetric, bias-cut crochet panels. Various vintage-inspired weaves, openwork motifs, and intricate patterns are pieced together to create a sculptural silhouette that both hugs and drapes the body. Finished with tassel-trimmed sleeves and an irregular hemline for artisanal texture and movement.

Closure: Pull-on style; slip with adjustable straps.

Condition: Perfect vintage condition with no flaws, complete with original label.

Please note, as with all vintage pieces sold via Another Kind, this item may display very light signs of wear, which only enhance its unique character and history.

Place of Origin: Paris, France

Provenance: A key ready-to-wear piece from Gaultier’s Spring/Summer 2008 collection, a season defined by pirate romanticism and Belle Époque nostalgia. Crochet garments such as this were layered beneath leather waist belts and lace-trimmed bloomers in the now-iconic bridal finale, styled with parasols, bonnets, and cigarettes. The collection blurred innocence and provocation, casting the bride as both castaway and coquette in Gaultier’s neo-Victorian dreamscape.

Notes: Includes original detachable slip dress for optional coverage. Can be styled over lingerie, a bikini, or worn standalone as an evening or bridal statement. A versatile and collectible, museum-grade example of Gaultier’s mastery of craftsmanship and historical reimagining.

Status: Available for private purchase only, not offered for stylist pulls or rentals.

Delivery: Shipped with care from our London studio within 1–3 business days.

Tracked & signed for peace of mind. Worldwide shipping available.

Terms & Conditions: All sales are final. Please review descriptions & sizing carefully. All vintage & pre-loved pieces may show gentle signs of wear, this adds to their story & charm. Need help, confirmation on sizes or special requests before you buy? Email us at (info@anotherkind.world)
