Prada (FW.2000)

Brand: Prada

Product: Candy stripe printed silk slip dress with wrap-effect bust, baby pink cotton ribbon waist, and contrast-paneled back skirt

Designer: Miuccia Prada

Collection: Fall/Winter 2000 (RTW)

Marked Size:

Marked Size: IT 36 – FR 32 – UK 4 – US 0 (equivalent to XS)

Material: 100% silk (shell: printed silk) in candy stripe pattern in hues of baby pink, pale yellow and brown - (waist band & straps: 100% cotton ribbon)

Construction: Construction: A refined reimagining of the 1920s slip dress, this knee-length piece is crafted in lightweight printed silk satin with an effortless, sensual drape. The neckline is softly constructed—cut deep into a loose, fluid V that wraps across the bust to create a perfectly plunging décolleté. The draping continues through the bodice, giving way to a baby pink cotton ribbon that cinches the waist with a delicate, feminine touch. The back echoes the V-shape of the front but is cut slightly higher for balance and wearability. The front skirt falls in a flat, A-line silhouette, while the back is pieced in expertly paneled strips - subtly alternating the direction of the candy stripe print for a visual play on movement and texture. The construction is both architectural and languid, capturing Prada’s mastery of contrast.

Closure: Concealed side zip closure

Condition: Excellent (no visible flaws; original shape and details fully intact)

Place of Origin: Italy

Provenance: Featured prominently in Prada’s Fall/Winter 2000 runway show and campaign, shot by Steven Meisel. This collection marked a turning point in Miuccia Prada’s exploration of awkward beauty and intellectual sensuality. The candy stripe motif, playful yet clinical, appeared across key looks, including blouses, skirts, and slip dresses styled with fur stoles and heels.

Notes: Rare runway and campaign piece. Works beautifully layered under a cardigan or styled solo for evening. Fits our mannequin perfectly with no pinning. A coveted example of Prada’s early-2000s experimentation with femininity, surface, and silhouette.

Status: Available to purchase / No rentals
